Congratulations to our Blood Red Team Riders David Harris and Krishan George who came 6th over-all for The Blackberry 12th Philippine Hobie Challenge, despite the hard competition between all 19 teams during the week-long sailing event.
Over half of the competitors came from different countries, with sailors flying in from Australia, Fiji, Italy, and the UK, to compete against all-Filipino teams and locally-based foreign teams. Team Blood Red rip-roared into 2nd place on the first day of the Challenge, bested only by the tandem of Jun Villanueva & Nestor Soriano. In the following days, Mick Butler (with crew Bradley Wilson) was quick to prove why he is the current world champion in Hobie 16s sailing, and walked away with the Over-All title at the end of the week.
Krishan George, who last sailed with David Harris in the 2005 Hobie Challenge where they won 2nd Over-All, said, “I haven’t gone sailing for the last 6 to 7 years so it was quite difficult, but a very excellent experience for me this year in the beautiful area of Palawan. The camping, food, sailing race, wind, islands and beaches, I can only say one word: FANTASTIC!”
It was a great privilege that the organizers of The Blackberry 12th Philiipine Hobie Challenge chose Blood Red for their official rashguards (the Classic Green UPF50+ rashguard) and race kit (the Bugoy Messenger Bag). The event has provided excellent local & international exposure for the brand, with positive feedback on the designs and performance of our products. We look forward to the next one!
